Water Utility

Springhill Water Treatment PlantThe Town of Springhill provides quality drinking water to all town residents. Through the Engineering and Public Works Department, the Town is involved in every step – supply, treatment, distribution, repairs and monitoring – to provide safe water for all town residents.

Starting in 2006, the Springhill Water Utility began providing drinking water from the Leamington Brook Water Treatment Plant. Starting with surface water from the Leamington Brook Watershed, the Water Treatment Plant cleans and purifies the source water to levels that consistently meet and surpass Health Canada’s Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines.

Water Purification EquipmentThe Towns commitment to providing safe and clean drinking water combines the skills and dedication of the Water Treatment Plant Operator and Staff of the Engineering and Public Works Department along with ongoing collection and testing of numerous water samples throughout the treatment and distribution system. In addition, the Town is represented by the Town Engineer on the Leamington Brook Watershed Source Water Protection Committee, where he serves as Chairperson. The committee works with the town and watershed area property owners and land users to help ensure long-term water quality protection within the Leamington Brook watershed.

The state-of-the art Water Treatment Plant is available for tours to any Springhill resident.
